Winter - where is it?
Friday 13th January, 2012
Well after the all the snow and winter conditions last January(2011) it's a complete contrast with high pressure and calm settled sunshine across the bulk of the UK today. No snow exists in Wasdale or the major Lake District fells, so scrambles became the order of the day today. With Harry and Graham, we scrambled up the south west side of Middlefell on a grade 1/2 scramble, with the sun on our backs and dry rock in our hands.
It was a great day out with lots of excellent solid rock to scramble on and fine views back to Great Gable and the Scafells. Lunch was taken on the top of the fells with clear views across the Western Lake District and still air and no human noise around us - a perfect mountain day. And tomorrow looks like being the same as well!
