Be A Part Of Something Big
Busy days and months
Wednesday 7th August, 2019

I've neglected the site for quite a while now but I have been really busy!!

I post of lot of my updates and news now on my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/MtnExperience - do go and like the page if you want to keep up with events.

Something I have been doing a lot of in the last few weeks is working with a number of different ropes courses and reviewing their rescue systems. What we developed a few years ago and was good practice then has become less useful in the last couple of years, especially with new equipment coming out and new thinking about looking after customer safety.

These courses were interested in identifying how their systems were still current and useful. A couple of sites, and the system devised a while back still works and is entirely appropriate for that venue and that particular course.

One new course was introduced to a new system from the off and the staff there adapted to using the rescue gear so fast it was amazing to watch their skills progression over a couple of days! Another customer and I had reviewed their system and decided the old one was no longer functional. So we looked at options and did some research and then settled on anew system which was tried out before rolling this out last week to all the rescue trained staff.

Watching their approach over the first day move from a mix of curiosity and doubtfulness, through to inquiring and experimentation and finally through to acceptance and comments such as "We should have changed over years ago!" and " I feel safer and more confident and the customer is much safer as a result" was very satisfying!

It's great when you can work with clients and help them develop new systems that are a clear improvement on the old methods. And it has to be said, that sometimes the old methods still are the best. You just have to know where the most suitable system lies for your specific needs and that's why I like my work!
